Session Flow

Cloud & privacy

The questions and answers from the app's Help, in full. In the app, it's behind the "?" button and uses the word you chose in Settings (patient, student…); here, "client".

14.1 — What is the cloud?

A copy of your data stored on Google Cloud servers in São Paulo, Brazil, that keeps all your devices the same. It is optional and part of the Premium Monthly, Yearly and Lifetime plans. Without the cloud, the app works as always, with everything on your device. On a computer, use the app in the browser at app.getsessionflow.app, with the same account.

14.2 — How do I turn it on?

Settings → Cloud & privacy → Turn on the cloud. Read the key points, check that you accept the terms and the policy, and sign in with your Google or Apple account. Only people who turn on the cloud accept these terms.

14.3 — I have data on the device and in the cloud. What happens?

The app asks what to do: merge both (nothing is lost), use only the cloud data (this device's data is replaced) or use only this device's data (the cloud and your other devices become the same as this one — whatever existed only in the cloud is deleted). When merging or using only the cloud data, a copy of the previous data is kept for 2 days in Backup & Restore → "Go back to the data from before the cloud", with its date; going back to it takes only this device out of the cloud. After 2 days, the copy is deleted. The question shows the date and time of the last edit saved to the cloud: if the device was restored from a Google or iCloud backup, compare it with that backup's date. Cloud & privacy shows the date and time of this device's last sync.

14.4 — Is my data safe?

It is protected in transit and at rest, and only your account can access it. There is no end-to-end encryption. Session Flow is not a clinical record: do not store clinical information.

14.5 — Do reminders go through the cloud?

No. Each device schedules its own reminders. If you create a session on one device, the other schedules the reminder when the app opens and receives the change.

14.6 — Can I link Google and Apple to the same account?

Yes. In Cloud & privacy → Sign-in methods, add the other one. If you lose access to one, you can sign in with the other.

14.7 — Is the cloud a backup?

No: it syncs. What you delete on one device disappears on the others. To keep a saved copy, keep exporting backups in Backup & Restore.

14.8 — How do I turn it off or delete it?

In Cloud & privacy → Turn off the cloud: sync stops on all your devices, and the cloud data is kept for 30 days (or deleted right away, if you choose). "Delete account" deletes the cloud data and the sign-in account. The data on your devices stays.

14.9 — What if my plan ends?

The cloud stops, and its data is kept for 90 days; then it is deleted. What is on your devices stays.

14.10 — A device went too long without syncing. What happens?

After 25 days without syncing (a phone left in a drawer, or a new phone restored from an old Google or iCloud backup), the device does not carry on by itself: it may not know what was deleted on your other devices. It stops, keeps its data and shows a notice in Cloud & privacy. When you turn the cloud on again, you choose what to do with the data; if nothing on this device was left out of the cloud, using only the cloud data is recommended. In the browser, the cloud data is downloaded again, without asking.

14.11 — What does "1 record isn't uploading to the cloud" mean?

In the cloud, each record has a size limit. Only a record with a lot of recorded sessions gets close to it — a large group with sessions almost every day for over a year, for example. If it goes over, it's kept on this device and in your backups, and the other records keep syncing: Cloud & privacy shows which one, and its record page warns you. From 80% of the limit, the warning shows up earlier. If the cloud refuses a record for another reason, the app tries again on its own; "Sync now" tries right away.
